About Australia

Australia is a destination of many possibilities. From the beaches to the outback to the cosmopolitan lifestyle, there are different activities to look forward and live up to. Depending on your expectations, the world’s smallest continent can offer different adventures and not in anyway small when it comes to opportunities for good times.

Prosperous, technologically advanced, industrialised and multicultural, Australia seems to have it all. It fares well on international comparisons when it comes to health care, public education, political rights, protections of civil liberties and economic freedom, a testament that this country is thriving on the important things.

There are six states in Australia namely New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia while the largest cities are Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast-Tweed, Newcastle, Canberra-Queanbeyan, Wollongong and Sunshine Coast. Its two mainland territories are Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

ACT has year round attractions such as historic sites, old churches, antique stores, pubs, parklands, restaurants, bars, snowy mountains and summer festivals. Canberra is part of ACT and this city offers an urban setting in the midst of lush greens. Museums and galleries are not to be missed to learn about the city’s history and culture. If nature trip is what you’re looking for, then pack up your gear and head for Mount Kosciuszko, the highest peak in the country. Now why would you do that? Because at the peak is the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve which has 20 rare species you can find nowhere else in the world. You can also spend time at the white beaches of Jervis bay, go whale watching on the Sapphire Coast or marvel at the wildlife at Montague Island.

If you want to explore Queensland, you wouldn’t run out of things to do for the duration of your stay (no matter how long it gets). Bike ride in Brisbane, groove to the beat of Surfers Paradise’s nightclubs, experience the thrill rides at Gold Coast’s Dreamworld, get close to nature at Noosa National Park in Sunshine Coast, visit the Great Barrier Reef, see for yourself the longest lava tube system in the world at Undara Volcanic National Park, sail and dive in Whitsundays or have the time of your life in the outback where the World Heritage listed Riversleigh Fossils Fields is found near Winton. Historic villages and orchards are in Yarraman in South Burnett and Nanango, Blackbutt.

All states and territories in Australia offer local and international tourists a lot of places to explore and Victoria is no exception. Stroll through Melbourne’s shopping streets, Brunswick and Chapel and expand your options. With urban amenities in this city, you can eat, drink and be merry. If you have to go somewhere to commune with nature, then head to the Yarra Valley and Dandenong, the food and wine region of Victoria. The Mornington Peninsula also has wineries in Red Hill and Main Ridge. Flinders and Sorrento have great beaches and golf courses too.

Exploring Australia is an adventure of a lifetime. With its rugged outback, pristine beaches and rich culture, it’s really a magical place to get lost in even for just a few days.
